Photography Block...

Well, since the weather has been nasty for a couple of days I have not been out and about taking photos. And since I wanted to post something I thought I would write a few thoughts. (I know scary!!) This past weekend our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) held its semi- annual general conference. Where all in membership (and maybe some that are not) gather in churches, or in our own homes to watch the conference via satellite from the conference center in Salt Lake City, Utah. The messages presented are very spiritual and uplifting. Since this past weekend, I have been thinking a lot about the world and all the things that are not uplifting and seem to be tearing us down each day. With that I have also noticed the good things that are still happening despite the harshness of the world. Those willing to go the extra mile to help out a friend in need, an organization helping out the needy and those in foreign countries who are less fortunate than we are, and being honest when it may be hard or even embarrassing. Each day you can click on a news website or turn on your T.V. and find all the violent situations in schools, homes and unfairness in the work place. At any one time you could literately make yourself scared, afraid and miserable with just a click of a button. I am not putting down the news and the "important" information that they do report and bring, but if you think about it, we report or spread the bad news faster then light can travel. (Sorry to sound as though I am ranting) I just have been amazed at all the things we could get so caught up in, but so happy to know that charity, love, and faith (of all kinds) still exist. I know that there are lots of people who believe and worship in many different ways, but I am sure that each of us could use a little more "uplifting" time in our lives. I sure felt a sense of happiness after the conference from our church because it was a renewal for me to stand a little taller, give a little more of myself and time to others and to find the good in all situations, even when it seems there is no light at the end of the tunnel. Life is hard, complicated, tough, draining etc., but that's not going to change. I just hope that we each find time to help someone in need, stand up a little taller for what we believe, and smile. As we have all heard many times before; Life is too short to sweat the small stuff. I don't want this to sound preachy, cause really I needed to write it down for myself and to refer back too. Now time to break my photography block and find something to photograph. :)
